i'm like desperately trying to get good at drawing, i want to make comics so bad. i was wondering if you had any advice? also, i was wondering how long-ish it took you to kind of develop your own style. i'm also trying to do that but as you can tell, i'm stupidly impatient.
If you’re so impatient, you should just dive straight into comics! You’ll learn a lot from doing it, I promise. And even if your art isn’t where you want it to be, by the time it is you’ll be good at drawing comics, not just drawing the characters. I know of a ton of artists who’s art I envy but their comics I don’t. And there’s a ton of people who aren’t necessarily ‘good’ artists but their comics are incredible. They’re two different skill sets. But why not develop both of those skills at the same time?
As far as developing your own style goes, that’s just something that sort of happens? I dunno, its not like I actively try to push my style in a certain direction or anything. Its just kind of an indirect interpretation of everything I like. And it’ll change when my preferences change. Asking how long it took to develop an art style is kind of like asking how long did it take me to decide I like stuff. Its just something that happens after looking at a lot of stuff.
i got sum pimples on my face but that won’t stop me from being cute. nothing can stop me
cool stuff from yesterday part 1
I had a lot of fun at SPX. I didn’t meet a single person I disliked and I was so happy to hear so much positive stuff about my stuff. That was super cool.
Sold out of my Lorna books!
We are still on the road!
Lorna’s back! She should have been back a lot sooner. I probably chose a dumb time to start posting Lorna stuff again since we’re now driving to SPX. I’ve got a couple pages saved up though and I’ll be posting them from wherever I may be.
i love how you can tell how much fun you're having with your comics. with a lot of other people who draw comics, i can pretty much imagine them alone in a corner drawing and looking bored, but your drawings have so much energy and spontaneity and it always seems like you're just having a good time
this is one of my favorite messages wow this is too sweet. I’m going to print this and frame it and put it right above my desk.
